Workshops
Improvisation Workshop
Class starts March 4, 2026
Wednesday 4 pm-5 pm
Electric Theater Center
(Open for Enrollment)
True improvisation is getting on stage and performing without prior planning or preparation. Though comedy will be created in The Workshop, this class is not strictly designed to create comedy. Our primary goal is to find the moment-to-moment truth that underlies good acting. Truth in comedy or drama begins with learning timing. Through careful instruction, theater games, and acting exercises, we will develop character, timing, and emotion. At the end of 12 weeks, The Workshop will present a showcase developed and performed by the class and directed by Madeline.
Acting for the Camera Workshop
(Coming Soon)
Beginners welcome! In this class, we will learn the ins and outs of onscreen acting. We will cover the technical elements of TV and film acting and explore what it means to be comfortable in front of a camera. Actors will develop a comprehensive set of skills for strong camera acting. The goal is for each actor’s personality to come through clearly and authentically. Classes are filmed and reviewed at every class. We will work with commercial copy, cold readings, scenes, and improvisation.
Scene Study Workshop
(Coming Soon)
A step-by-step progression of acting exercises will develop the actor’s ability to work organically, connect with themselves and their scene partner, and deliver truthful, moment-to-moment work. The way an actor reads a classic play, a television pilot, or a musical theater libretto differs from how we read a novel or an essay. We are looking for clues and directives that unlock the character. This class covers preparation techniques from initial text analysis and scene scoring to rehearsing, iterating, and crafting the through-line for a complete audition-ready scene. This work is invaluable for anyone looking to broaden their communication skills. The class requires outside rehearsal with a scene partner.
